Day 11: Man Of Sorrows

Day 11: Man Of Sorrows

Thousand of years ago, the fall of Adam brought the curse of sorrow over humanity.
In Genesis 3:17 we read: And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; (KJV)

In the original Hebrew, the word used for ‘sorrow’ means worrisomeness, labor, pain or toil, anguish, and affliction. As a result of Adam’s sin, humankind was condemned to eat the fruit of the ground in sorrow and pain. However, a man of sorrows brought humanity a turnaround.

Isaiah 53:3-4 tells us: He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. (KJV)
The word ‘borne’ means to accept, contain, wear, receive, lay or yield. The word ‘carried’ means to bear a burden or strong to labor. The word ‘grief’ refers to anxiety, disease, and sickness. On the cross, Jesus became the container for all our pain and disease. He bore our anguish and sickness. He accepted our grief and received our affliction as He hung on the cross. He became a man of sorrows so you could become a man or a woman of joy.

DECLARE: I declare that because of what Jesus did for me, I am joyful in all circumstances! The joy of the Lord is my strength. I will rejoice in the Lord at all times because He has borne all my grief and has filled me with His peace and joy.
