John 4:52,53
Praise the Lord! Today's verse is from John 4, 52, and 53,
So he asked them the hour when he began to get better. And they said to him yesterday at the seventh hour and the fever left him. The father knew that was the hour when Jesus had said to him, your son will live, and he himself believed and all his household.
The man was either not certain that it would be as Jesus said, and now was greatly encouraged over the verification, not only of the healing, but the exact time it was carried out or else, he believed fully and was overjoyed to see his faith rewarded to this degree. Jesus is ever seeking to increase the faith in the hearts of those who believe In him. He is dealing with us, He is increasing our faith in several different ways. He himself believed and all his household. This speaks of all becoming converts to Christ, so his son was not only healed and spared from death, but as well as the greatest gift of Salvation was given to all.
What a blessed day! It would have been. The news quickly spread to every relative and friend concerning the tremendous miracle of healing, which took place. Many flocked at his house to see the young man and to hear the story of how exactly Jesus healed him. I can see his father explaining to all who would listen to him.
He would have said he merely just said "go thy way, thy son lives". He could have then told how he could hardly wait to get home and how his servants met him on the way, and they were shouting, no doubt, at the top of their voice, saying your son lives. Then I can see the light as it literally shown on his face as he compared the time that the boy was healed and when Jesus had spoken the word. He would have told them. He was healed the moment Jesus spoke the word. Where it was not for Jesus, the home of the noble man would now be grieving because of a recent funeral instead of being happy and joyous instead of the son laughing, talking, and providing an atmosphere of love in the home. He would now be just a cold Body in the tomb.
