John 3:3

Praise the Lord. Today's verse is from John 3, 3,

Jesus answered him "truly truly I say to you unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.

This was something totally different than what this ruler of the Jews was anticipating. In this few words, Jesus would address Israel's great error as well as proclaim, the fundamental truth.

Actually, the most important truth of all is addressed. Israel's error and man's need. First, the Israel's error, Israel had come to a place where a religious leaders believed that simply being born into a Israelite home constituted salvation. They felt that simply being a child of Abraham and therefore a true Jew consisted of Salvation. Here Jesus addresses the greatest need of the human family the need to be born again which constitutes of Redemption.

In effect, Jesus is saying that this applies to all even the Jews, no matter that they are the children of Abraham. As well, this means that all men are sinners actually having been born in sin which is referred to as original sin, this was brought about due to the fall of Man in the Garden of Eden, the term born again means that a man has already had a natural birth but now must have a spiritual birth which comes by faith in Christ and is available to all. The spiritual birth is totally of God and none of man. This means that man's Good works, religious rituals and ceremonies play no part whatsoever in the born again experience.

Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV

[8] For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, [9] not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

The miracle of the new birth takes place as the individual exhibits faith which comes from the word of God in what Christ did at Calvary.

Prayer

I thank you, Father. Lord, because you paid the praise for our Salvation when we commit ourselves in faith, we are saved. We thank you for this. We commit this day to your hands in Jesus name. I pray. Amen. God bless you.
