John 6:5,6

Today's verse is from John 6:5,6 lifting up his eyes then and seeing that a large crowd was coming towards him, Jesus said to Philip where are we to buy bread so that these people may eat he said this to test him, for himself knew what he would do.

John recorded that Jesus approached Philip about the need of food. The other gospel does't say this.
John does not mention several details found in the other gospels. Matthew and Mark say that Jesus had compassion on them. Luke says he spoke to them about the kingdom of God and cured those who are in need of healing.
While John did not use the word "compassion, clearly Jesus question to Philip reflected his compassion for the large crowd.

He asked Philip because he was from Bethesda, which was near the place where they were. And if Jesus asked a question to someone, it is not for information. He knew everything. This was for them to think. He already knew what he was about to do.
This was Philip to understand the magnitude of the problem and the greatness of the miracle he was about to do. Every question in the Bible is for us to think, to meditate, and to know.

I was retired in Bangalore from Bosch company and was well settled there.
It was three years back when god spoke to me from Romans 10, 13 to 15.  For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in whom Him whom they have never heard?
And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? These questions made me to think there are so many Christians in my hometown who are calling on the name of Jesus, but how can they be saved if they do not believe?
And how can they believe if they have not heard the right gospel being preached? And if no one is sent, how can they preach? And God said to me, will you go to Kerala?
I said, here I am. Send me. And immediately I planned and came to Kerala.
Now, I had been here for three years. God is helping me to share the gospel to many people here.

What does God want you to do in your life?
Let us think.

Prayer

Let us pray. Heavenly Father, I thank you, Lord, for your purposes in our life.
Lord, we commit ourselves to your purpose so that your kingdom will come. We look to you for everything of Father. We submit ourselves once again to your hands.
In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen. God bless you.
