John 4:35
Praise the Lord! Today's verse is from John 4, 35.
Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest.
Here, Jesus is comparing the agricultural terms of harvest to the Harvest of souls, that is, people turning to the Lord. In Israel, there was a period of about four months between the end of sowing season and the beginning of the Harvest. Jesus was saying that they need not wait so long. At that time, and in that place, a harvest was there for the reaping he was referring to the readiness of the Samaritans and others to believe in him when they heard the truth. We see in verse 39 many of the Samaritans of that City believed in him because of the word of the woman.
In our time too, there is always a harvest ready somewhere always people prepared by God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ. God's servants should seek for them with Zeal and confidence in God. 2000 years from Christ's day to this hours have been a time of continual spiritual Harvest on Earth. In Matthew 9, 36-38, we read when he saw the crowd he had compassion for them because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without Shepherd. Then, he said to his disciple, the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few, therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the Harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.
In this verse, we see the condition of the people they were harassed helpless, and like sheep without a Shepherd. Today also, we see the same condition. People are confused, they helpless. They are not having the right Shepherd to guide them today. Also, the Harvest is plentiful. People are ready to accept Jesus, but the laborers are few.
I have been in Kerala for the last two and a half years. I also see a great need where people wanted to know the truth, and people wanted to be guided into the right direction. Let us pray for them.
Prayer
Holy Father. I thank you Lord that you are the same God and people are the same. Oh God, they need you and I pray God that you will bless your people. Lord, you will send your laborers into your kingdom, Lord, that people will be saved and the name of Jesus will be glorified. We ask all of this the loving name of Jesus Christ, Our Lord.
Amen. Amen.
