John 4:25

Praise the Lord. Today's words is from. John 4th, chapter 25th verse.   The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things.”  The Greek word for Messiah is Christos, from which Christ the name English name comes. The Samaritans were waiting for the Messiah, so were the Jews. We see in Matthew 16 chapter. Peter, declaring Jesus as the Messiah. Jesus asked his disciples, who do people say that the son of man is? They said different things. But then he asked this question to the disciples, he said to them. But what do you say that I am? And Simon, Peter, answered. You are the Christ, the son of living God. How did Peter know that Jesus is the Messiah, the Christ, the son of the Living God. We have to see how it all started. John's gospel first chapter 35th verse onwards we see that John the Baptist introduced Jesus to his disciples and two of his disciples followed him, and one of them was An...

John 4:23

Praise the Lord. Today's verse is from John 4, 23, John 4:23 ESV But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.   We are going to meditate on the first part of this verse today. The hour is coming and is now here. This also said in verse 21, the hour is coming. Here, the time is emphasized. It is now here. Jesus is now here. And the things are about to change. Every single prophecy of the Old Testament, All the sacrifices along with the feast days, as well as that, the Tabernacle and what the temple stood for, all pointed to one person, the Lord Jesus Christ. He was and is the Fulfillment of all these things and all were done for a purpose of opening up the way that the Holy Spirit would come down and dwell in the hearts and lives of Believers in a manner which would not be done previously. When Jesus died on Calvary, thereby satisfying the claims o...

John 4:24

Praise the Lord. Today's verse is John 4, 24 God is spirit and those who worship Him must Worship in spirit and Truth.  God is spirit does not mean that God is a wind or a vapor or a smoke. John was taken up to heaven in Revelation 4th chapter. His description of God on the throne is, And he who sat there had the appearance of Jasper and kermelim. And round the throne was a rainbow that had appearance of emerald. The elders fell down and worshiped him, saying, Worthy are you, our Lord, Our God.  God is spirit means God is a spirit being. This indicates the attributes of God. The first attribute is, he is omnipotent. That is, God is all-powerful. He has the power to carry into effect whatever God May Will. Second is, he is omniscient He is knowledgeable. All things past, present, or future is an open scroll to him. Third attribute is omnipresent He is present universally and simultaneously in every part of his wide domain. He is present everywhere at all the time. T...

John 4:22

Praise the Lord. Today's verse is from John 4:22. You worship what you do not know. We worship what we know for the Salvation is from the Jews. Jesus was telling her what was right and wrong. A Samaritan style of worship was wrong. It was that which God would not accept. Irrespective of how much time the worshiped or how much they used his name. The Samaritan worship was founded not on love, but on ignorance and fear. As we have seen when the foreign people were brought to dwell in Samaria, they brought their own gods with them second Kings 17:29 We read about it. We are told that a priest from Bethel came and told them how they should fear the lord second Kings 17:28. But all the probability is that they merely added Jehovah to their list of gods because they were superstitiously afraid to leave them. Irrespective of Israel's present black slidden condition and a departure from the true God, despite the continuing of the religious ceremonies and rituals still, that...

John 4:21

Praise the Lord! John 4:21. Jesus said to her, believe me the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the father.  Jesus says to the woman, believe me. Jesus is asking her to believe him. And He is also confirming a statement which she said, I perceive that you are a prophet Jesus saying, I am the prophet,  Moses has spoken about. In effect, is also saying that he holds the answer to her delimma and rather than believing the arguing factions among the Samaritans and Jews, she was rather to believe him. Today, also argument rage over religion. However, the one criteria and the one foundation and one principle, which must be heeded, is the Lord Jesus Christ. When we stand before God what the religions or denominations said, or the church have said, will not matter, but only what God said will matter. So, Jesus says, believe me.  Jesus said the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship t...

John 4:20

Praise the Lord! Today's verse is from John 4:20. Our fathers worship on this mountain. But you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.  Our fathers worshiped in this mountain speaks of Mount Garazim. It was about 50 miles north of Jerusalem. A rival worship had been set up on this mountain were a temple was built in 332 BC. Our Father speaks of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, who worshiped and labored at Shekim, which was nearby. Mount Garazim was called the Mount of blessing. Deuteronomy 27:12.  The phrase, but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship. The Jews see that they have to worship on Mount Moriah. Moriah was the mountain on which Abraham took his son to offer him as a sacrifice and the temple king Solomon built was on this mountain. When Solomon built the temple, God promised Solomon. I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a house of sacrifice and worship. Second chronicles 7:1...

John 4:19

Praise the Lord. Today's verse is from John 4:19. John 4:19 ESV [19] The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.  This verse, we see the belief of Samaritans about the Messiah. Samaritan accepted only the first five books of the Bible that did not accept the historical books or the wisdom books and the prophetical books. They derived their interpretation of the Messiah from Deuteronomy 18:115, which says the Lord, thy God, will rise up unto you, a prophet from the midst of you of thy Brethren, like unto me and him you shall listen this verse definitely referring to the Messiah. They did not understand the Incarnation they believed that the Messiah would be a Samaritan. The Samaritans were looking for a prophet who would be a mere man. And the Jews were looking for the Messiah who they were thinking as the king, but it was a wrong type of King. They were looking for a king who would deliver them from the Roman Empire, the Samaritans, as they did not ...

John 4:17,18

Praise the Lord. Today's verse is from John 4, 17, and 18. The woman answered him. I have no husband. Jesus said to her, you are right in saying, I have no husband for you had five husbands and the one you are now have is not your husband. What you have said is true. We see Jesus by the gift of the Holy spirit, reveals that she had six husbands. We do not know if she diversed the other husbands or if some are dead.  Jesus clearly speaks about marriage, and divorse in Mark 10 chapter. Some Pharisees came to Jesus and asked him. Is it lawful for a man to divorse his wife. Jesus answered, but from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female. For this reason, man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and the two shall become one flesh. So then they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, Let not man separate. Whoever diverses his wife and marries another commits adultery against her. And if a woman di...

John 4:16

Image
Praise the Lord! Today's verse is John 4:16. Jesus said to her, go call your husband and come here.  The woman's sin is now Dealt with. Hence, Jesus is telling her go, call your husband. This is saying to the woman, go call your husband and come here, made her to think about her past life and immoral life. God has given every person a conscience to convict him when he sins. But if we excuse our sin and keep doing the same sin, our conscience no longer convicts us of that sin.  The parable of the prodigal son. We see that he took his father's possession and went for away and lived a reckless life, But when a famine came in his life, the situation of his life convicted him.  Today also situations in our life will convict us of our sins. Jesus says, when the Holy Spirit comes, he will convict us of our sins. Are we living in a life of sin today? We may be involved in many religious ceremonies to cleanse our sins, but what can really cleanse us from our sins? The...

John 4:15

Praise the Lord! Today's verse is from  John 4:15 ESV  The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water.”  Jesus spoke to the woman of  the Living Water. The Holy Spirit takes them like an arrow to her heart and in a moment's time reveals to her the great need of her life, and as well as at least to a certain degree. What Jesus is actually saying. So, she asks Jesus, give me this water. That is living water. The truth is the woman had thirsted all her life for the Living Water. Her immorality has not slackened this thirst, and neither did many husbands as well as the religion of Samaritans gave no satification at all. Religion cannot satisfy this thirst, which is in us only Jesus can. In the Kasarkode District in a place called kolara, there are two people, one Peter, who is retired from BHEL, is 80 years old, another brother, Sebastian, who is 70 years old. Their families are in the U.S, bu...
